Management and Employee Development
We have a number of different classroom training programs available, each designed to satisfy a wide variety of management and/or employee development goals and objectives.
In addition to our classroom training programs, we can create a customized, highly effective development tool geared specifically to your organization’s unique development requirements.
This tool, entitled Handbook for Performance Enhancement and Success, is designed to enable individuals at all levels of the organization to independently create a Development Action Plan. This development plan is typically based on identified gaps in performance which are identified through performance management meetings or through a 360-degree feedback process, and are related to your organization's behavioural competencies.
Customized information and suggestions listed in this handbook include:
- on-the-job activities,
- resources such as books, films, websites, associations, and
- internal and external classroom training programs.
Please note that our Handbooks for Performance Enhancement and Success are available on-line for those who are technically competent and paper-based for those who are not.
Global Learning offers the following two different types of Handbooks for Performance Enhancement and Success:
Handbook for Performance Enhancement and Success
Job Competencies and Behaviours
This handbook is geared specifically to an organization’s job competency profiles and related behaviours. Organizations that do not have job competency profiles in place generally base this handbook on their organizational values.
Benefits of having such a tool readily available to your staff and management include:
- Provides individuals with a wide variety of highly effective and proven development ideas and recommendations
- Enables everyone within the organization to independently create comprehensive Development Action Plans based
on the feedback received from their performance evaluation discussions, regardless of level, function, physical
location, and the competence of their manager
- Minimizes the cost (time and money) of developing staff because:
- The majority of activities outlined are "on-the-job" as opposed to costly external classroom training
programs (research indicates the latter is a far more expensive yet considerably less effective mode of training
and development, particularly for long-term growth and development).
- Employees can create their own Development Action Plans with relatively little input and "handholding" required
on the part of HR and/or managers.
- Employees can create their own Development Action
Plan with relatively little input and "handholding" on the part of Human Resources and/or managers.
- Creates a self-sufficient work environment where individuals can effectively and independently take responsibility
for their own development. In essence, this tool takes the onus for professional and personal development away from the manager and puts it
exactly where it belongs - onto the employee.
We're happy to share with you two different samples from our Handbooks for Performance Enhancement and Success related to job competencies and behaviours. One of these samples is from a Handbook for Performance Enhancement and Success geared specifically to a Sales Representative, and the competency addressed is "Service Orientation." The other sample is from a Handbooks for Performance Enhancement and Success geared specifically to Managers and Supervisors, and the competency addressed is "Communication."
