Diversity in the Workplace

Increasingly, we are working within diverse and complex environments. This workshop makes use of a variety of different learning approaches, including small and large group discussions, role plays, case studies, group exercises, and video tapes.

This introductory program, geared to individuals at all levels of the organization, addresses the following issues:

  • Diversity awareness (Race, Ageism, Sexual Orientation, Gender, Disabilities)
  • Different work environments and their impact on diversity
  • Understanding group identify and values
  • Combating stereotypes and biases in the workplace
  • Developing diversity skills and competencies

After participating in this program, managers are strongly encouraged to participate in our Diversity program geared specifically to managers, entitled Managing a Diverse Workforce.

Please note that our customized Diversity training programs are available in both classroom and Web-based formats.

Managing a Diverse Workforce

Increasingly, managers are working within diverse and complex environments. Through a variety of interactive and self-reflective exercises, as well as a highly impactful videotape, participants will learn to recognize personal biases and stereotypes. They will also begin to understand other factors that may influence their perceptions and corresponding management abilities, including how cultural differences may lead to misunderstandings in the workplace. Participants will then learn key skills to help them effectively manage the diversity issues they are facing in their particular workplace.

Additional areas addressed in this workshop include:

  • The business case for diversity
  • Roles and responsibilities in becoming a diversity change agent and diversity role model
  • Giving and receiving feedback to deal with conflict
  • How to promote a workplace which is harmonious and inclusive

Gender Diversity in the Workplace

Global Learning offers gender awareness training for different levels within any organization. Using case studies and experiential exercises, our interactive Gender Diversity training programs build awareness and skills.

Our Gender Diversity programs address the following areas:

  • Differences between men and women, with a focus on:
    • Communication skills
    • Addressing conflict
