2014 Ontario Compliance Dates

2014 is here, and with it come two important compliance dates in Ontario! Are you ready?!

AODA: Web and ISR

As part of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Customer Service Standard, by Jan. 1/14, large organizations should have ensured that new, or significantly refurbished, web sites conform to WCAG 2.0. Does your site fall into that category? Has it been audited for compliance? Free online tools only do half the job, checking the code but not making necessary manual checks. Global Learning’s experienced site auditors make sure your site has been thoroughly checked against ALL of the requirements.

The next four Standards, collectively known as the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations require that training (including the ISR and the Human Rights Code of Ontario) must be completed by Jan. 1/15, for large private sector organizations and by Jan. 1/16, for small organizations. Do you have a course in place? Global Learning offers both a dedicated ISR/Human Rights Code course for those who have already completed the training requirements of the AODA Customer Service Standard as well as a comprehensive course that includes all five AODA standards and the required training for the Human Rights Code. Both courses have been designed to cover the requirements for all levels of the organization, so there is no need for additional courses for people managers, executives, or employers.


The second compliance date to keep in mind is the one for Ontario’s new Occupational Health and Safety Act. To comply with this Act, every worker, supervisor, and employer in Ontario must have completed a health and safety awareness training program that includes information stipulated by the Ministry of Labour by
July 1/14. Again, Global Learning offers one course designed to cover the requirements for all levels of the organization, so there is no need to juggle the costs and administration of separate courses for workers, supervisors, and employers.
